Feelings In Namir Bridge – Sound

I understood that the emotional infulance of sound modified mainly from three parameters of sound: 1. Sound’s Color 2. Dynamics 3. Articulation. I identified what criterions need to be in each parameter in order to provide the emotional influance similar to the emotions i checked before, and had the gradient patterns for. In these examples i used cars sound from the bridge.

I was looking in the site the emotions i checked before, and had the gradient patterns for, in order to show sights in the Namir Bridge that reinforce the emotional influance there.

Sound’s Color Parameter

I found that the parameter of sound’s color is passing and blocking information more than the rest of the sound parameters. I took the mapped sound’s color from the site at day time and evening and showed this information blocker according to the gradient patterns i was using in my language.

Mapping – 7 Parameters Of Sound

I wanted to map the sounds of the Yarkon bridge, by looking at the emotional influance of them. I mapped the sound every five minutes for one hour at day time and the same at night. I did that by using the 7 parameters of sound, that from my understanding so far contains the factors of emotional influance. I made myself a table that gives each parameter a relevant scale in the same size with the same amount of hights. I was intersted to see it in a more spatial view so i spread them and looked at the surface they create for each time at the day – separete and together. The first Parameter – ‘The Source of Sound’, I mapped differently. I marked what sounds is heard every five minutes and the dominance of each one of them with opacity. the opacity gets back to my language that is about what happens between the connection of the inner world and the outside world.

How Does It Make You Feel ?

I was trying to understand which sound influance which emotion. I did that by reading psycological articles and listening to different music that according to the researches I read, supose to have certain influance as an outcome of the sound qualitys. For instance low sound level, little density, dim color and continuous sounds in articulation cause for sad emotions. another thing i found out is that sound and emotion influances the visual understanding.

After understanding that, I made this video in order to give an exemple of sounds that have different influance on emotions, and to show that the visual can be understood and interpreted differently because of the sound’s infulances.

: Disposing the grief process on a bedroom

In this 3D poster i’m showing the space i was creating to myself by disposing my intuitive reflection about it on a bedroom. It contain five photographs of the bedroom from the same spot. Each photograph represent one step of the grieving process. The photos is arranged in a strip from left to right in order to give a feeling of frames in a movie. In each photo something changes, added or missing – this helps to understand what is going on in this process to the person lives in that room. The secound layer of the transparency was made in purpose to give a spatial feeling of each step of the process. I look at this layer as my language.

first i tried to find an intersting thing to look at in the piece of sound i have chosen. with my thoughts and feelings i understood the sound as a process of grieving. in this presentation i’m showing my grieving process on my cousin in the way i found it right to be expressed like. My purpose was to show the feelings in my mourning in a visual way. The presentation contains some guiding stages which i found in my mourning:

Weakening
Paralysis
Pain
Attempt to connect to the dead in any possible way
Doing things connecting me with the dead
Back to regular life with thoughts and reflections of the dead
New observation about myself
Creating my self character

understanding my grief process – sketch

In the review i got for Etude #01 i understood i need to show the process in a visual – spatial way. I was told to think about the world in the way i experienced it at that point. This note and sketch made as an attempt to have some understanding about the space i produced to myself in my grief process. In order to creat my own language, i felt i need to express my mourning in a drawing. This was done so i will see from the outside what i felt in the inside. The notes are feelings and thoughts i had at the process – and i divided them to 5 stages. The stages reffers to the connection between the outside world and my world. After writing them down, i started the sketch – which contain the 5 stages.
